China is feeling bummed 😞 after the European Union (EU) gave a thumbs down 👎 to price offers from Chinese electric vehicle (EV) makers. The rejection has left China's Ministry of Commerce super disappointed.
So, what's the deal? The China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products (CCCME) and Chinese EV producers made some price proposals to the EU. These were aimed at avoiding extra duties on Chinese-built EVs headed to Europe.
But on Thursday, the European Commission, which is looking into whether Chinese EVs are getting unfair subsidies, said \"Nope!\" to all the offers. They didn't even give them a detailed look-over, according to China's Commerce Ministry.
A spokesperson from the ministry expressed that the EU's decision was made without deep communication and ignored the Chinese EV industry's sincerity and efforts. Ouch! 😬
Since June 22, teams from China and the EU have had over 10 rounds of talks, trying to sort things out. China says they've shown maximum sincerity and tried hard to resolve the issues through dialogue, keeping the EU's concerns in mind.
\"The European Commission's rejection of the relevant proposal without detailed assessment not only undermines the confidence of the Chinese industry to continue cooperation, but also does not meet the expectations of EU member states, let alone its public statement that it hopes to resolve the case through dialogue,\" the spokesperson said.
China is now keeping a close eye 👀 on what the EU does next and says it will take all necessary measures to firmly safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies.
