Egypt said today it has accepted an invitation from US President Donald Trump to join his proposed Board of Peace, a new diplomatic forum aimed at resolving conflicts in Gaza and beyond.
In a statement, Egypt's foreign ministry said President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has agreed to participate, committing to follow domestic legal and constitutional procedures. Cairo also emphasized its support for the panel's mission to advance the second phase of the plan to end the Gaza conflict.
Egypt stressed that its involvement will align with the mandate of the United Nations Security Council, underlining its focus on multilateral legitimacy.
The announcement comes as el-Sisi attends the World Economic Forum in Davos this week, where he is set to meet President Trump and discuss global challenges with other leaders.
At separate Davos panels, el-Sisi positioned Egypt as a regional stabilizer. He welcomed Lebanon's steps to restore stability amid shifting Middle East dynamics and called for an inclusive political process in Syria that brings all groups to the table.
On the Palestinian issue, el-Sisi reaffirmed that resolving the conflict remains central to regional peace. He credited Trump's diplomatic efforts with helping secure the October ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
With details still emerging, Egypt's decision to join the Board of Peace highlights Cairo's willingness to back Trump's diplomatic vision while anchoring its participation within existing international frameworks and regional priorities. 🌍✌️
