New Video of Minnesota ICE Shooting Sparks Fresh Tensions

📹 A new 47-second video has emerged showing the moments before an ICE agent fatally shot Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis this past Wednesday, January 7, 2026. The footage, obtained by Alpha News, captures Good behind the wheel of her SUV with her dog in the backseat as she speaks calmly to the officer.

In the clip, Good’s wife, Becca Good, films the interaction from the street. Within seconds, the situation escalates: the SUV lunges forward, gunfire rings out, and the vehicle veers off down the road. Subsequent frames show the car crashed on the roadside while the agent remains standing. Federal officials say the agent, identified as veteran ICE agent Jonathan Ross, sustained minor injuries and was treated in hospital.

⚖️ Conflicting accounts have ignited a heated debate. U.S. Vice President JD Vance shared the video on social media, defending the agent’s actions as self-defense. White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt accused the media of misrepresenting the footage. President Donald Trump, speaking from the White House, labeled Good’s actions “domestic terrorism,” claiming she tried to run over the agent. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey dismissed that claim as “garbage,” citing the video.

Community outrage grew as Good’s family and neighbors voiced their grief. Becca Good described Renee as a devoted mother whose “kindness radiated out of her,” and said they had been helping neighbors moments before the shooting. Demonstrators took to the streets for a second night on Thursday, and Governor Tim Walz activated the state National Guard to support local law enforcement.

🔍 State leaders are launching their own inquiry. Hennepin County prosecutor Mary Moriarty and Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison announced a probe after the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension said the FBI initially agreed to a joint investigation but then reversed course. Governor Walz accused the Trump administration of blocking state officials, while Vice President Vance maintained it’s a strictly federal matter.

ICE, created under the Homeland Security Act of 2002, enforces immigration laws, investigates undocumented immigration, and removes unauthorized individuals. Its expanded role under the Trump administration has brought agents into communities nationwide, often sparking resistance from local residents. Agents have authority to stop, detain, and arrest people suspected of immigration violations—and in rare cases, U.S. citizens who interfere with operations.

As the FBI investigation continues, Minneapolis remains on edge over questions of accountability, use of force, and the balance between federal authority and local oversight. 🤔
