🌍 Think the US is going solo? A new CGTN poll shows global frustration is at an all-time high. Out of 24,000 respondents across English, Spanish, French, Arabic, and Russian platforms, 93.5% said the US’s unilateral approach puts it at odds with the international community.
The trigger? This week’s blunt interview with The New York Times, in which President Donald Trump declared "I don't need international law," just days after the US attack on Venezuela and the forcible seizure of President Nicolas Maduro. Many saw it as a stark display of the "America First" doctrine in action.
Key findings:
- 88.9% saw the US withdrawal from 66 international organizations—spanning climate, energy, and global governance—as another radical step under "America First."
- 93% said cherry-picking international systems undermines global fairness and justice.
- 88.3% felt these withdrawals damage the US’s reputation as a responsible major power.
Despite the shockwaves, 89.9% agreed that multilateralism—cooperation and coordination—is vital for tackling today’s challenges. Even more, 94.4% called for urgent reform of the global governance system, stronger international rule of law, and more effective multilateral mechanisms. And 90% believe major powers should step up and lead positive change.
For news enthusiasts, young professionals, students, and travelers alike, the message is clear: the future of global governance depends on teamwork, not solo runs. 🤝✨
