🗳️ On January 5, 2026, provisional results from the National Elections Authority showed incumbent President Faustin-Archange Touadera clinching a decisive victory in the Central African Republic’s presidential election, winning 76.15% of the vote.
Since taking office in 2016, the 68-year-old leader pursued a third term after a 2023 constitutional referendum scrapped the presidential term limit. His main rivals, former Prime Minister Anicet-Georges Dologuele and ex-Finance Minister Henri-Marie Dondra, trailed with 14.66% and 3.19%, respectively.
Even before the official figures landed, Dologuele and Dondra held separate press conferences to allege election fraud—claims the government denies.
Out of about 2.3 million registered voters, 52.42% cast ballots, according to Mathias Morouba, the authority’s head. With a clear majority, Touadera is poised for a third term, pending legal confirmation.
The Constitutional Court will hear any challenges and is expected to finalize the results by January 20, 2026. For now, Touadera’s win stands as a landmark moment in the country’s political journey.
What’s next for the Central African Republic? Stay tuned for the developments! 🌍📈
