16-Storey Building Collapses in Nairobi’s South C, Four Feared Trapped

🏢😱 This morning in Nairobi’s South C, a 16-storey building under construction collapsed at around 4:30 a.m., leaving at least four people feared trapped under tons of rubble.

Rescue teams from the Kenya Red Cross, local police and other agencies rushed to the scene, using heavy machinery and hand tools to clear debris. Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku told reporters he believes four workers remain missing beneath concrete and steel.

The National Construction Authority confirmed the project was registered but flagged as non-compliant at the time of the collapse, raising questions about safety standards on site.

By afternoon, operations were temporarily suspended after a neighbouring 14-storey building began to shake, prompting Nairobi County officials to label it “high risk” due to potential structural damage from the initial collapse.

Later in the day, search efforts resumed with police sniffer dogs joining the hunt for survivors. Local residents and volunteers are on edge, hoping for good news as crews work around the clock. 🛠️🚨
