🔍 Late last month, a gang pulled off an incredible Ocean's Eleven-style heist at the Sparkasse savings bank in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. Over the extended Christmas break, thieves used a massive drill to break into the underground vault from a parking garage.
😱 The robbers smashed open more than 3,000 of the bank's 3,250 safe deposit boxes, making off with around €30 million in cash, gold and jewelry. On Tuesday, December 30, hundreds of distressed customers flocked to the branch, demanding answers about their missing valuables.
🕵️♂️ Police believe the gang hid inside the vault during the Christmas holidays, taking advantage of closures on December 25 and 26, and worked through the weekend before slipping away undetected.
📸 Investigators are now combing through security footage and forensic clues. Sparkasse has reached out to affected customers to assess losses and secure what's left in the vault.
🎬 This real-life thriller shows that sometimes fact really is stranger than fiction. Keep an eye out for updates as the investigation unfolds! ✨
