Day 2 of Thailand-Cambodia Border Talks Sees Clashes Ease

🤝 Yesterday, on Wednesday, December 24, the Thai-Cambodian border talks kicked off in Chanthaburi province. Today, Thursday, December 25, the secretariat meeting enters its second day, with some 30 Cambodian delegates and ASEAN observers from Malaysia in the room.

🕊️ The Thai military reported that fire exchanges have dropped significantly, now limited to scattered hotspots along the frontier. The spokesperson noted a downward trend in skirmishes.

🚑 But the human toll continues:

  • Two Thai soldiers were injured by a landmine during de-mining operations near Ta Kwai Temple.
  • A Cambodian civilian was killed on Thursday, raising Cambodia’s civilian death toll to 31.

The talks will run until Friday, December 26. If preliminary discussions go smoothly, defense ministers from both sides will meet on Saturday, December 27, for higher-level talks.
