US and Russia Set to Meet in Miami for Ukraine Peace Talks

This weekend, US and Russian negotiators are set to head to Miami for what could be a breakthrough in the nearly four-year Ukraine crisis. 🤝 According to Politico, talks between envoys from Washington and Moscow aim to hammer out a peace deal following productive discussions in Berlin last weekend.

On the US side, President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and adviser Jared Kushner will lead the delegation. Russia’s team is expected to include President Vladimir Putin’s special envoy Kirill Dmitriev. Meanwhile, Ukrainian national security adviser Rustem Umerov plans a separate meeting with the US delegation, either in Miami or another US location.

During the Berlin talks on December 12–13, US, European and Ukrainian officials reportedly closed 90% of the gaps on a 20-point draft peace plan. Key sticking points remain security guarantees and Ukraine’s NATO aspirations. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signaled that Ukraine might pause its bid to join NATO in exchange for Western guarantees under NATO Article 5—assurances the US has not yet formally offered. 🕊️

If these Miami meetings proceed as scheduled, the Trump administration will update Russia on the latest developments from Berlin and push to bridge remaining divides. The outcome could reshape peace efforts and define the next chapter in Ukraine’s story. 🌍✨
