🚨 This Monday, December 8, 2025, Israeli forces stormed the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) office in East Jerusalem without warning. The Jerusalem Governorate says police detained security guards and confiscated their phones, raising the Israeli flag atop the compound.
Communication was cut off, leaving the world in the dark about conditions inside. No statements have been released by Israeli police or UNRWA so far.
This raid comes just two days after the UN General Assembly voted to renew UNRWA’s mandate for three more years, a move aimed at supporting over five million Palestine refugees across the region.
UNRWA had operated from this site since 1951 but was forced to vacate earlier this year after Tel Aviv passed a law banning its activities in Jerusalem.
In a strong response, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned the raid, stressing that the building "remains United Nations premises and is inviolable and immune from any other form of interference." He called on Israel to respect its obligations under the UN Charter and international law.
As this story unfolds, the international community is watching how Israel will respond to calls for restoring UNRWA’s inviolability and ensuring humanitarian work can continue without disruption. Stay tuned for updates! 🌍✌️
