US and Ukraine Hold Productive Miami Talks After Putin Meeting

On Thursday, December 4, U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff sat down with Ukraine’s senior negotiator Rustem Umerov in Miami for a set of "productive" talks, according to a White House statement 🤝. The discussions marked a fresh effort to push forward a U.S.-backed peace plan after high-level meetings in Moscow earlier this week.

Witkoff, joined by Jared Kushner, met with Umerov at a discreet waterfront venue in Florida. Though not formal negotiations, participants say the roundtable helped clarify next steps. "Progress was made," a White House official told reporters, adding that both sides were set to reconvene on Friday, December 5, following briefings with President Trump and Ukraine’s leadership.

This Miami session comes on the heels of a five-hour Kremlin meeting between Witkoff, Kushner and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Kremlin adviser Yuri Ushakov described those talks as "truly friendly," noting that the trio achieved a level of understanding that Putin later labeled "very useful."

With follow-up talks set to continue, all eyes are on whether these back-to-back discussions can spark real momentum toward ending the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Stay tuned! 🌴🕊️
