🥋 Last Sunday, November 30, 2025, in Cairo, Egypt, China's Gong Li took home silver in the women's 61kg division at the World Karate Federation (WKF) World Championships.
She battled through a field of over 380 athletes from 88 countries and regions, toppling three of the world's best before reaching the final against Iran's Atousa Golshadnejad. Gong jumped into a 2-0 lead early on, but Golshadnejad fought back to claim gold with a 4-2 victory.
Despite the narrow loss, Gong adds another highlight to her résumé alongside her Hangzhou Asian Games gold medal. Tunisia's Wafa Mahjoub and Kazakhstan's Assel Kanay rounded out the podium with bronze medals.
