Nigeria Celebrates Release of 24 Abducted Schoolgirls

🎉 Great news from Nigeria! On Tuesday, November 25, President Bola Tinubu confirmed the safe release of 24 schoolgirls who were abducted in northern Nigeria earlier this month. 📚

The students were taken from their dormitory at the Government Girls' Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi state, on November 17. After a tense wait of over a week, local authorities announced the girls were freed unhurt.

"I am relieved that all the 24 girls have been accounted for," Tinubu said in a statement late Tuesday. In a separate update, Kebbi state governor Nasir Idris told reporters the students are "all in good health," and arrangements are underway to reunite them with their families. 🤗

This incident followed a series of copycat kidnappings last week: 38 churchgoers were abducted during service in Kwara state, and over 300 students were seized at another school in Niger state. While all worshippers and 51 students were released on Sunday, the wave of attacks has raised alarm nationwide. ⚠️

"Now, we must put as a matter of urgency more boots on the ground in the vulnerable areas to avert further incidents of kidnapping," the president urged. His call for stronger security measures comes as communities demand safer schools and public spaces. 👮‍♂️👮‍♀️

As Nigeria grapples with these threats, experts say combining community vigilance with targeted security patrols could help protect students and residents. What steps do you think should be taken to keep schools safe? Let us know in the comments! 🚀
