Malaysia Flood Evacuations Top 18,000 as Monsoon Rages On

As of Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2025, more than 18,000 residents have been forced from their homes across 10 states as the northeast monsoon continues to unleash heavy rains.

Kelantan has borne the brunt of the storms, with over 9,700 evacuees housed in 40 relief centers by midday. Floodwaters have submerged local roads, cutting off villages and pushing families to high ground. 🌧️

Selangor follows with 2,718 people evacuated, while Perak has reported 2,881 displaced residents. Rescue boats and trucks are working round-the-clock to reach isolated areas.

Chief Secretary to the Government Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar confirmed that more than 100,000 personnel from multiple agencies are on the ground, delivering food, medical aid, and shelter supplies to affected communities.

Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Woh assured that national-level examinations will proceed as planned, thanks to contingency measures and strict standard operating procedures that prioritize student safety.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim commended the National Disaster Management Agency's readiness and has ordered all agencies to mobilize maximum resources to support flood-hit residents.

The meteorological department warns that heavy rain and strong winds may persist through the end of the week. Authorities are urging everyone in flood-prone areas to stay tuned for updates and move to higher ground if needed. 🌀
