Myanmar Reaffirms One-China Policy, Deepening China Ties

In a clear show of diplomatic friendship 🤝, Myanmar’s State Administration Council spokesperson Zaw Min Tun reiterated on November 21 that Myanmar firmly supports the one-China policy and respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Chinese mainland.

He addressed the recent row sparked by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s remarks on the Taiwan region, stressing that Myanmar stands by the principles agreed upon with its neighbor. Acting President Min Aung Hlaing has repeatedly underlined this position during high-level talks with Chinese leaders.

Zaw said that China and Myanmar are good neighbors, working together to build a strategic cooperative partnership and advance a shared future. He highlighted years of collaboration on infrastructure, trade and cultural exchange.

By upholding the first principle of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, Myanmar shows its long-term commitment to regional stability. This move not only reaffirms diplomatic ties but also signals Myanmar’s balancing act in Asia’s complex geopolitical landscape.

As young investors, students and travelers keep a close eye on shifting alliances, Myanmar’s latest stance offers a reminder of how relationships in Asia continue to evolve, shaping opportunities and challenges for the next generation. 🌏💼
