On Nov 12, 2025, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported that the combined death toll from two powerful typhoons that swept across the Philippines this week has risen to 259, leaving millions displaced.
Fung-wong made landfall on Nov 9 as a super typhoon before weakening as it crossed north-central Luzon. It claimed at least 27 lives and left two people missing 🌊.
The companion storm that struck days earlier in the southern islands was responsible for the majority of the fatalities. Flooded towns and uprooted power lines hampered rescue operations, forcing many families into crowded evacuation centers.
Aid groups and government teams are distributing relief supplies, including food packs, clean water and blankets, while local volunteers use boats and motorbikes to reach isolated communities.
This twin typhoon event highlights the growing impact of extreme weather in the region, testing local preparedness and community solidarity 🌱. We’ll keep following the recovery efforts and share updates as they come in.
