Israel Launches Fresh Airstrikes in Southern Lebanon, Ceasefire Under Strain

🚨 Fresh airstrikes rocked southern Lebanon on Thursday as the Israeli military—through spokesperson Avichay Adraee—warned villagers in Al-Tayyiba, Tayr Debba and Aita al-Jabal to evacuate. Despite a ceasefire in place since last November, tensions rose like a cliffhanger in a hit series.

Lebanese sources report one person killed and nine injured in Toura and Tayr Debba. Schools in Nabatieh shut their doors as families fled, causing traffic jams and new displacement waves.

Analysts say these strikes are part of a pressure campaign against Hezbollah. In early November alone, Israel carried out 22 operations—from air raids to artillery shelling—damaging homes and infrastructure and shaking fragile hopes for peace.

Meanwhile, the Lebanese army has been clearing weapons and militants south of the Litani River, completing 90% of its first-phase mission due by year-end.

Hezbollah fired back with an open letter to top leaders in Beirut, warning against negotiation traps with Israel and rejecting disarmament demands.

The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon urged both sides to exercise restraint and keep communication channels open. But with officials warning of renewed tensions, Lebanon stands on the brink of a new confrontation.

Political analyst Nidal Issa describes the situation as the calm before a storm. Young people across the region are watching anxiously, hoping the next episode doesn’t spiral into a full-blown conflict.
