🚨 Los Angeles is sounding the alarm! On Monday, Mayor Karen Bass stepped up to demand an immediate Congressional investigation into what she calls the 'unlawful and unconstitutional' abduction, detainment, and alleged abuse of U.S. citizens and immigrants by federal agents without a judicial warrant or probable cause.
At a press conference in City Hall, Bass warned that reports of Angelenos being tased, dragged, and detained have everyone on edge. 'This is not just an assault on the people of Los Angeles—this is an assault on every person, in every city in this country,' she said.
Joining the mayor was Congressman Robert Garcia, members of the City Council, and immigrant rights advocates. Garcia highlighted troubling accounts of masked agents pulling U.S. citizens off the streets and locking them up with no access to lawyers or phone calls during federal anti-immigration raids. 'No one, regardless of their background, should live in fear of being thrown behind bars by their own government,' he stressed.
The lawmakers have officially asked DHS Secretary Kristi Noem for records and details. They pointed to recent findings by ProPublica showing that 170 American citizens were arrested by the Department of Homeland Security—many of them reportedly innocent.
For a city built on diversity and freedom, these allegations hit hard. Angelenos and advocates are now watching, hoping for answers, accountability, and a reaffirmation of civil rights. ✊
