Trump Eyeing a Weekend Visit ✈️
U.S. President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that he might jet off to the Middle East this weekend as a Gaza deal is "very close." Speaking at the White House, Trump noted, "Negotiations are going along very well. I may go there sometime toward the end of the week."
Negotiators from Israel and Hamas have been meeting in the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh for three days. Senior officials from Egypt, Qatar and Türkiye joined the indirect talks alongside U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi even extended an invitation for Trump to attend a signing ceremony if the deal clears its final hurdles. With momentum building, the talks have entered a critical phase—even as the conflict in Gaza rages on.
Whether Trump hops on a plane or watches from afar, all eyes will be on Sharm el-Sheikh this weekend. Can a breakthrough happen in time? 🌍🤞
