Hey there! 🎉 On Saturday, 137 activists touched down in Türkiye after being detained by Israeli authorities. Among them were 36 Turkish nationals who joined the Global Sumud Flotilla, an aid mission bound for Gaza.
The group departed Ramon Airport in Eilat aboard a Turkish Airlines flight and landed at Istanbul Airport at 3:50 p.m. local time. They were greeted by officials and a cheering crowd eager to welcome them home.
According to TRT, the activists will first undergo health checks before heading to the Istanbul Police Department. There, they’ll give statements as part of an investigation launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office after Israel intercepted the flotilla in international waters. 🌊⚖️
Foreign ministry sources confirmed that the returning activists also include citizens from the United States, United Arab Emirates, Algeria, Morocco, Italy, Kuwait, Libya, Malaysia, Mauritania, Switzerland, Tunisia and Jordan. 🌍
For many, this safe arrival marks a hopeful chapter after days of uncertainty at sea. Stay tuned as their stories continue to unfold! 👀
