Trump: Ukraine in Position to Win It All Back

At the UN General Assembly in New York, former U.S. President Donald Trump surprised many by backing Ukraine’s bid to retake all its territory. On the sidelines of the UNGA, Trump told President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that with support from the European Union and NATO, Ukraine is “in a position to fight and win all of Ukraine back in its original form.” 🎯

This marks a sharp shift from Trump’s earlier calls for Kyiv to make concessions in peace talks with Russia. He shared his thoughts on Truth Social, saying that after diving into the military and economic details, he believes Ukraine has the upper hand against a struggling Russia.

President Zelenskyy welcomed what he called “a very positive signal” and discussed with Trump plans to pressure Russia’s energy grid and financial system. Ukraine is also counting on more U.S. sanctions to keep the momentum going.

In Moscow, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov pushed back. He said Russia prefers parallel talks on Ukraine tied to broader U.S.-Russia relations. Peskov argued that Russia’s economy is stable and that its slow advance in Ukraine is part of a deliberate strategy. He noted that Russia will share its stance with the U.S. at upcoming meetings between Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his American counterpart.

Meanwhile, a German government spokesperson said Trump’s upbeat tone aligns with Germany’s push to keep Western pressure on Russia high. Berlin hopes this momentum can lead to even tougher sanctions on Moscow. 💪

Whatever happens next, this UNGA moment shows how international support and politics continue to shape the future of the conflict in Ukraine.
