🌐 Fresh off the UN Security Council stage, China’s deputy permanent representative to the United Nations, Geng Shuang, is telling everyone to chill out after the recent Poland drone drama.
Late last week, the Polish military shot down drones that had buzzed over its territory overnight. While Warsaw blamed Russia for the aerial breach, Moscow shot down those claims. Belarus also weighed in, and the situation threatened to spiral into a heated blame game.
Speaking on Friday, Geng urged all sides to avoid misunderstandings and misjudgments. “In the current context, any misunderstanding or misjudgment will deepen the trust deficit. Any confrontational rhetoric may spark an escalation. Any military clash could trigger broader instability,” he warned.
To keep tensions from hitting red alert, China is calling for:
- 🕊️ Calm heads over hot rhetoric
- 🤝 Dialogue instead of standoffs
- ⚖️ Political solutions over military moves
Geng reminded the council that this incident is a spillover of the Ukraine crisis and stressed the need for goodwill and mutual accommodation. China’s position? Objective, impartial, and consistent—pushing for peace talks and an early political settlement.
With airspace disputes threatening wider instability, the message is clear: Before things go from tense to tense-as-heck, take a breath, talk it out, and keep the peace. ✌️
