Thailand is stepping into a new chapter: King Maha Vajiralongkorn has officially endorsed Anutin Charnvirakul as the country’s new prime minister. The announcement came during a royal command reading by Arpath Sukhanunth at the Bhumjaithai Party headquarters, following Anutin’s majority win in Friday’s parliamentary vote. 🇹🇭✨
In his first speech as PM, Anutin pledged to work tirelessly to navigate Thailand through its current challenges, despite facing certain constraints. He emphasized a clear commitment to transparency and speedy, independent legal proceedings as guided by the constitution and relevant laws.
"My government aims to amend the constitution, clearing the way for drafting a new charter through the prescribed legal process," Anutin said, confirming plans to dissolve parliament within four months of taking office.
He expressed confidence that his reform agenda would gain support across society, laying a strong foundation for future administrations to build upon—focused on people’s well-being, stability, and lasting prosperity. 🙌
With the royal endorsement in hand, Anutin’s team can now form a cabinet and deliver a policy address to parliament—a necessary step before the new government officially assumes office.
At 58, Anutin brings rich experience to the role. As leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, he’s served as deputy prime minister in multiple administrations, and held key ministerial posts in interior and public health.
