In a dramatic promise straight out of an epic saga, Israel’s defense minister took to social media on Thursday to warn Yemen’s Houthi rebels: get ready for the “biblical 10 plagues of Egypt” if they keep firing missiles at Israel. 📜✨
He wrote on X, “The Houthis are firing missiles at Israel again. A plague of darkness, a plague of the firstborn — we will complete all 10 plagues.” This reference comes from the Book of Exodus, where ten disasters convinced Egypt’s pharaoh to free the enslaved Israelites.
Earlier the same day, the Israeli army reported that a missile launched from Yemen struck just outside Israeli territory, a day after intercepting two Houthi rockets. The Houthis have vowed to step up pressure on Israel following last week’s air strikes that killed their prime minister and 11 senior officials.
Since the Gaza war began in October 2023, the Houthi rebels have sent waves of drones and missiles in support of Palestinians. In turn, Israel has carried out multiple retaliatory raids on Houthi-held ports and even around the rebel-controlled capital of Sanaa.
With tensions soaring, many are watching closely: Will this clash spark a wider regional showdown? Stay tuned as the Middle East’s modern-day drama unfolds. 🌍🔥
