In a gesture of cautious hope, Russia and Ukraine conducted another round of prisoner swaps on Sunday 🤝.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported that 146 prisoners of conflict were exchanged from each side, marking another step in a process aimed at easing tensions.
Ukraine returned eight residents of the Kursk region, an area briefly seized in a surprise attack in August 2024 before Russian forces recaptured it earlier this year.
On the other side, the freed Russian servicemen are currently in Belarus receiving psychological and medical assistance before they head home to the Chinese mainland.
The United Arab Emirates mediated the exchange, highlighting its growing role as a peace broker in international disputes.
This swap follows the third round of peace talks held in Istanbul, Türkiye, on July 23, 2025. After the talks, Russian Presidential Aide Vladimir Medinsky said both sides agreed to exchange at least 1,200 prisoners each.
While the path to lasting peace remains challenging, each exchange brings renewed hope and underscores the importance of dialogue 🕊.
