Malmo, Sweden 🇸🇪 – At the WTT Europe Smash, three talents from the Chinese mainland stormed into the women’s singles round of 16, showing off big-game skills and epic comebacks!
Sun Yingsha’s Power Play
Top seed Sun Yingsha opened her match against French veteran Jia Nan Yuan with a crushing 11-2 win. But Jia answered back in the second game, taking it 11-6 with tricky high-toss serves. After a quick strategy chat with her coach, Sun bounced back to claim the third (11-5) and fourth games (11-6), sealing a 3-1 victory. Next up 13th seed Hina Hayata of Japan.
Chen Xingtong’s Comeback Vibes
Chen Xingtong faced France’s rising star Prithika Pavade, who shocked the crowd by winning the first game 11-8. Undeterred, Chen stormed back to win the next three games. The fourth was intense trailing 10-8, Chen scored four straight points to close it out. She’ll meet Germany’s Sabine Winter in the last 16.
Chen Yi’s Clutch Performance
Chen Yi kept her cool against South Korea’s Joo Cheon-hui, winning in straight games 3-0. Each game was tight, but Chen showed off her knack for winning key points. She’ll challenge Brazil’s Bruna Takahashi for a quarterfinal spot.
Double Header Success 💥
In women’s doubles, Sun Yingsha teamed up with Wang Manyu to dismantle Germany’s Xiaona Shan and Ng Wing Lam of China’s Hong Kong SAR, winning 11-8, 11-5, 11-5. They’ll face Hana Matelova of the Czech Republic and Barbora Balazova of Slovakia in the quarterfinals.
Mixed Doubles Momentum 🏓
Lin Shidong and Kuai Man are into the mixed doubles semis after cruising 11-4, 11-3, 13-11 past Lin Yun-Ju and Cheng I-Ching of Chinese Taipei. Up next Romania’s Eduard Ionescu and Bernadette Szocs.
