Israel Weighs 60-Day Ceasefire Proposal as Gaza Crisis Deepens

Israel is reviewing a ceasefire proposal after receiving Hamas' detailed response, Xinhua reported. The proposal includes key provisions for hostages and humanitarian aid amid a growing crisis in Gaza 😢.

Hamas and other Palestinian factions have agreed to a 60-day truce plan brokered by Egyptian and Qatari mediators. The deal would see 10 living Israeli hostages released in exchange for 140 Palestinian prisoners serving life sentences and 60 others jailed for over 15 years.

As soon as the truce starts, urgent aid – including fuel, water, electricity and medical teams – would flood into the Gaza Strip. Hospitals and bakeries would be rehabilitated, and rescue crews equipped to clear rubble 🚑.

A temporary halt to military operations would allow Israeli forces to redeploy and secure safe routes for aid convoys. Egypt's Al Qahera News TV says Cairo and Doha will loop in U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff to push talks forward.

Once the 60-day pause is in place, negotiators plan to discuss a comprehensive ceasefire or a permanent agreement. For now, the world watches and hopes for relief.

On Monday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Hamas is 'under immense pressure' to accept Israel's terms. In a video message, he also revealed plans with Defense Minister Israel Katz and military chief Eyal Zamir to 'conquer' Gaza City and move hundreds of thousands further south – a move that has already drawn international criticism for its potential toll on civilians.

As Gaza's humanitarian crisis deepens, every day counts. Will this proposal bring a moment of calm or set the stage for new clashes? 🤝🌍
