ASEAN Observers Monitor Cambodia-Thailand Border After Ceasefire

In a promising move towards peace, ASEAN interim observers have visited the conflict-affected zones along the Cambodia-Thailand border. Led by Malaysia, the group also includes military attachés from Vietnam and the Philippines, all set to monitor the recent ceasefire.

Armed clashes broke out on July 24 between Cambodian and Thai soldiers, but an unconditional ceasefire went into effect on July 28 at midnight. Cambodian Defense spokesperson Maly Socheata noted that Cambodia stands ready to work with the Malaysia-led observation team to help maintain stability in the region.

This initiative is a clear sign of renewed efforts to ease tensions and ensure lasting stability along the border. Stay tuned as ASEAN continues to watch over these critical areas, bringing hope and a breath of fresh air to the communities involved. ✌️
