U.S. May Day Rally: Protesters Challenge Trump’s Policies

On May Day, thousands hit the streets across the U.S. to voice their frustration with President Donald Trump's policies, especially on immigration and the treatment of lawyers and judges. The protest brought together a mix of lawyers, teachers, and politicians in a dynamic call for change 😎.

At a Washington rally organized by lawyers’ groups and a coalition of over 200 labor unions and immigrant rights advocates, Jennifer Vasquez Sura shared a personal story. She recounted how her husband, Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a U.S. resident, was mistakenly detained in El Salvador by the Trump administration. "He was illegally detained, abducted and disappeared by the Trump administration, though they admitted it was an error," she said, highlighting 50 days of suffering.

Organizers decried what they see as an administration that favors profits for billionaires over investments in healthcare, housing, and public schools. They envisioned hundreds of thousands joining the protests, aiming to make this one of the biggest May Day demonstrations in U.S. history.

Adding to the momentum, U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders addressed a large crowd in Philadelphia, urging unity amidst rising political tensions just days after Trump held a campaign-style event in Michigan to celebrate his first 100 days in office.

The day became a powerful reminder that activism and the voices of young people and working families remain a force for transformation across the nation.
