South Korean PM Han Reinstated After Court Rejects Impeachment

In a dramatic twist, South Korea's Constitutional Court ruled on Monday to strike down the impeachment motion against Prime Minister Han Duck-soo. With the ruling taking immediate effect, Han has been reinstated as both prime minister and acting president.

The decision came down to a divided panel: five out of nine justices rejected the motion, one voted in its favor, and two supported a dismissal. This development follows last December's political unrest when the opposition-controlled National Assembly passed the impeachment motion against Han following President Yoon Suk-yeol's contentious martial law declaration.

While the impeachment process was acknowledged as legitimate, the court noted that there was no conclusive evidence linking Han to President Yoon's botched martial law imposition or any insurrection. The ruling clarified that although Han's refusal to appoint constitutional court justices was unconstitutional, no intent was found to obstruct the ongoing deliberations on President Yoon's impeachment.

This landmark decision highlights the power of evidence-based judgment in times of political turbulence. It’s a striking reminder of how dynamic modern politics can be—bringing clarity amid chaos. 🚀✨
