Western Leaders Unite in London to Secure Peace in Ukraine 🇺🇦🤝

In a show of solidarity, over a dozen European leaders and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau gathered in London on Sunday to back Kyiv. The summit focused on ramping up security measures and forming a strong coalition to uphold any peace agreements in Ukraine.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer unveiled a four-step plan aimed at ensuring lasting peace in Ukraine:

  1. Continued military aid to Ukraine amidst the ongoing conflict.
  2. Enhanced economic pressure on Russia.
  3. Guaranteeing Ukraine's sovereignty and security in peace negotiations.
  4. Creating a 'coalition of the willing' to defend and maintain peace in Ukraine.

Starmer emphasized the crucial role of the U.S., stating, \"Europe must do the heavy lifting,\" and highlighted the need for American support to make the agreement a reality. He added, \"Now we need to deliver together.\"

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy praised the high level of European unity, saying, \"We are all working together in Europe in order to find a basis for cooperation with America for true peace and guaranteed security.\"

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen echoed the sentiment, calling for increased defense spending to support a durable peace. \"After a long time of underinvestment, it is now of utmost importance to step up defense investment for a prolonged period of time,\" she said.

With leaders pushing for stronger defense commitments, the summit marks a significant step towards a potential peace deal that deters future invasions and secures Ukraine's future.
