The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) have made impressive strides in their ongoing conflict against the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), advancing on multiple fronts across key regions. 💪
In Bahri city, north of Sudan's capital, Khartoum, the SAF has secured the Kafouri area, marking the RSF's last stronghold in the city. \"The SAF special forces at Al-Markhiat Military Base are advancing steadily in the Kafouri neighborhood after successful, intense operations, cleaning the area of the militia forces,\" the SAF announced on its Facebook page.
This victory is a pivotal milestone in the SAF's campaign across major cities including Khartoum, Omdurman, and Bahri. Previously, Kafouri served as a strategic base for RSF artillery attacks in Omdurman.
Further strengthening their position, the SAF has also taken control of Al-Rahad city in North Kordofan State after fierce battles that lasted several days. \"The armed forces continue their victories, advancing along Al-Rahad axis in North Kordofan and decisively crushing the militia,\" the SAF stated.
Al-Rahad is a crucial location due to its position at major road crossroads and its role in Sudan's railway network, linking the western regions to the east and center. Since January, the RSF has been retreating from multiple areas in central Sudan, losing significant territories in Gezira and Sinnar states, as well as key areas in Khartoum.
The conflict, which escalated in mid-April 2023, has been devastating for Sudan, with estimates of over 29,680 lives lost.
