The Panama Canal, a crucial waterway built by the United States in the early 20th century, was handed over to Panama in 1999. Recently, U.S. President Trump has stirred up discussions by claiming he wants the canal back, alleging that it is currently run by China. However, China has swiftly disputed these claims.

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning clarified that China does not take part in managing or operating the Panama Canal. This statement aims to set the record straight amid the growing tensions.
