Trump Likely to Extend TikTok Deadline by 90 Days

📢 Big news for TikTok fans! President-elect Donald Trump said on Saturday that he's \"most likely\" going to give TikTok a 90-day extension on Inauguration Day, which is this Monday. 🎉

In an interview with NBC News, Trump mentioned he hasn't made a final decision yet, but a 90-day extension is on the table. \"I think that would be, certainly, an option that we look at. The 90-day extension is something that will be most likely done, because it's appropriate,\" he said. \"We have to look at it carefully. It's a very big situation.\"

Back in April 2024, President Joe Biden signed a bill requiring ByteDance, TikTok's Chinese parent company, to sell TikTok to a non-Chinese company within 270 days. If not, the app would face a ban in the U.S. after January 19, 2025. 🚫

Just last Friday, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the law, meaning ByteDance must sell the app or face a nationwide ban starting Sunday—the day before Trump's inauguration. ⏰

Following the Court's decision, the White House released a statement: \"TikTok should remain available to Americans, but simply under American ownership or other ownership that addresses the national security concerns identified by Congress in developing this law.\"

They added that due to timing, \"actions to implement the law simply must fall to the next Administration, which takes office on Monday.\"

TikTok responded by saying it'll be forced to shut down services for its 170 million U.S. users on Sunday unless the Biden Administration provides a \"definitive\" assurance. \"Unless the Biden Administration immediately provides a definitive statement to satisfy the most critical service providers assuring non-enforcement, unfortunately TikTok will be forced to go dark on January 19,\" they stated. 😢

Will TikTok stay or go? It looks like all eyes are on President-elect Trump as we await his final decision. Stay tuned! 👀
