Israel Intensifies Strikes in Lebanon and Gaza as Beirut Awaits Truce

Israel is stepping up its military operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza, with daytime airstrikes shaking communities and increasing fears among residents 😟.

On Wednesday, Israeli jets bombed the Hezbollah-controlled southern suburbs of Beirut for a second day in a row. Mid-morning strikes flattened several buildings in Dahiyeh and hit Dawhit Aramoun, a village south of the capital. The attacks killed eight people, including three women and three children, according to Lebanon's Health Ministry.

\"They used to bomb Dahiyeh at night, but now it's happening during the day. Things are getting worse every day,\" said Hassan Moussa, a 40-year-old local, speaking to AFP. \"The strikes have expanded to places like Aramoun.\"

The intensified fighting has also been costly for Israel. Six of its soldiers were killed in combat against Hezbollah fighters, making it one of the deadliest days for Israeli forces since the conflict escalated.

Hezbollah announced that, for the first time in this confrontation, it targeted the headquarters of the Israeli Defense Ministry, signaling a significant escalation in the conflict.

In Gaza, the situation is heartbreaking 💔. At least 10 Palestinians lost their lives on Wednesday when Israeli bombs hit a home and tents sheltering displaced people west of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip, Palestinian sources told Xinhua.

The human toll is overwhelming. More than 43,712 people have been killed in over 13 months of conflict between Israel and Hamas, according to the Health Ministry in Gaza.

As the violence spirals, Beirut is anxiously waiting for Washington's latest ceasefire proposals after a U.S. official expressed hope that a truce could be reached soon 🤞.

The global community is sounding the alarm 🚨. On Wednesday, the UN Security Council condemned attacks on its peacekeeping mission in Lebanon, urging all parties to ensure the safety of UN personnel. \"Peacekeepers must never be the target of an attack,\" the Council stated.
