Over Half of Human Trafficking Cases in Canada Remain Unsolved

😔 Human trafficking in Canada is on the rise, and more than half of these heartbreaking cases remain unsolved, according to a recent report by Statistics Canada.

Since 2013, over 4,500 incidents of human trafficking have been reported by police services across the country. That's an average of 1.1 incidents per 100,000 people each year. 📈 The numbers have been climbing steadily, with a significant spike between 2018 and 2019.

What's even more alarming is that 58% of these cases haven't been resolved. There are many reasons why—a lack of evidence, ongoing investigations, or simply not being able to identify a suspect. It's a complex issue that leaves many victims without justice.

Most of the victims are women and girls, and shockingly, about one-quarter are children and youth under 18 years old. 💔 This hidden crime affects some of the most vulnerable people in our communities.

Statistics Canada also points out that their numbers might just be the tip of the iceberg. Because human trafficking is often hidden and underreported, there could be many more cases that we don't know about.

It's a tough topic, but it's important for us to stay informed and support efforts to combat human trafficking. Together, we can make a difference. 💪
