At a recent United Nations Security Council meeting, China's representative, Fu Cong, called for the world to step up and make UN resolutions on Gaza count. 
Fu Cong highlighted that although the Security Council has passed several resolutions calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, none have been effectively put into action. \"This has seriously impacted the credibility of the entire UN system,\" he said.
He stressed that UN resolutions are binding for all states and must be implemented. China is backing the Council to use all tools at its disposal to ensure these resolutions are carried out. 
Fu Cong especially urged the United States to support further actions by the Council to bring about an immediate ceasefire. He pointed out that, according to reports, since last October, the US has provided Israel with over $17 billion in military aid. 
\"Does such a large-scale supply of weapons help realize the objectives of Security Council resolutions? This is a question that needs serious consideration,\" he remarked. 
The ambassador also called for upholding international humanitarian law. \"Using starvation as a weapon of war is a serious war crime,\" he emphasized. He noted that humanitarian organizations are the lifeline for Gaza, and it's unacceptable to see them facing suppression and threats. 
Fu Cong urged Israel to fulfill its obligations under international humanitarian law, lift the blockade on Gaza, and fully cooperate with the United Nations and other humanitarian groups to ensure the safety of humanitarian operations, such as delivering supplies and vaccinations. 
He also expressed strong support for UNRWA, the UN relief agency for Palestinians, opposing any attempts to smear or suppress it.
