In a bid to dial down the heat in the Middle East, China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi 📞 reached out to Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Monday. Both sides gave a thumbs up 👍 to China-Iran relations, promising to keep the communication lines wide open and to boost practical cooperation. Araghchi expressed Iran's deep worries 😟 about the escalating tensions in the region and voiced a desire to avoid any further conflicts.

\"Iran values China's influence on the world stage and is keen to team up 🤝 to cool things down through diplomacy,\" Araghchi said, cautioning that Israel should tread carefully 🚶‍♂️.

Wang Yi pointed out that the negative ripple effects 🌊 of the Gaza crisis are spreading, with regional tensions on the rise. He reiterated China's stance on resolving hot-button issues through dialogue and consultation 🗣️, opposing any actions that might ramp up tensions or lead to military misadventures ⚔️.
