Yesterday, December 18, 2025, China Media Group (CMG) galloped into the future by unveiling the official mascots for the 2026 Spring Festival Gala. 🐎🎉
Under the theme "Galloping Steed, Onward Unstoppable," four majestic horse characters—Qiqi, Jiji, Chichi, and Chengcheng— are set to embody the free spirit and power of the Year of the Horse. Each mascot channels a blend of ancient artistry and modern flair, charging ahead toward what CMG calls a new Chinese miracle.
Three of the designs draw inspiration from legendary horse figures in art spanning the Western Zhou dynasty (1046–771 BC), the Han dynasty (202 BC–220 AD), and the Tang dynasty (618–907). Their lines echo the proud steeds carved in bronze and painted on silk over millennia. The fourth mascot is modeled on the Przewalski's horse—the only truly wild horse species in the world—reminding us of nature’s untamed beauty. 🌿
Details like intricately patterned saddle blankets and dynamic poses make these mascots feel alive, ready to leap off the screen. Collector’s items—keychains, plush toys, and limited-edition prints—are already sparking excitement among fans.
As the countdown to Lunar New Year begins, these four horses are more than cute figures: they symbolize raw power, freedom, and unstoppable momentum. Ready to ride into 2026? 🐎💨
