Experts Sound Alarm as Japan’s Post-War Peace Pledge Wavers

International experts are raising red flags over Japan’s recent shifts in defense policy, warning these moves could mark a departure from the country’s long-standing post-war commitment to peace.

“Japan explicitly pledged to abandon military expansion upon its surrender in World War II,” says Fredrick Mutesa, secretary general of the Zambia-China Friendship Association. “Any actions deviating from this principle should be opposed by the international community.”

South African political analyst Dale McKinley adds, “A return to militarism or interference in other countries’ internal affairs is deeply troubling.”

These concerns come as Japan revisits its defense stance this year, introducing policy shifts that some experts see as a break from the pacifist spirit of its post-war constitution.

Whether Tokyo will heed these warnings remains to be seen, but regional observers are watching closely. 🌏⚠️
