Three ‘Suns’ Light Up Genhe’s Winter Sky

Imagine looking up and seeing three 'suns' lighting up the horizon! Yesterday morning (Monday, December 8), Genhe City in Hulun Buir, north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, put on a dazzling show as a rare sun dog phenomenon appeared in the sky. ❄️☀️

Sun dogs happen when sunlight hits perfectly aligned ice crystals high above, splitting the light into bright spots on either side of the sun. In Genhe, one of the Chinese mainland’s coldest cities, the frigid air creates the perfect stage for these icy optics.

Locals grabbed their cameras and smartphones, sharing epic shots of the triple-sun illusion across social media. The effect looks straight out of a sci-fi movie—like the universe glitched and gave us an extra star! 🌌📸

If you’re chasing unique winter adventures, Genhe’s frost-filled landscapes and freak weather events deserve a spot on your bucket list. Who knew extreme cold could bring such magical moments? ❄️✨
