Roughly a month after the October ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, Gaza’s education system remains in crisis. Over 200 schools and universities have been destroyed, leaving countless students without a place to learn.
Among the rubble sits Naifa Ziad Musleh, a displaced student of the Islamic University. She recalls her once-vibrant campus now turned to dust. “The dream I had waited for all my life, since I was a child, was to graduate. But that dream was stolen from us,” she says, her voice a blend of sorrow and quiet determination. 📚💔
For Naifa and thousands like her, watching the buildings they once filled with laughter and ambition crumble is more than the loss of brick and mortar. It’s the loss of a future they worked so hard to build. Students adapt by studying in tents, shifting to online classes where possible, or teaching each other in makeshift study circles. Yet, resources are scarce and internet connections unstable.
Despite these challenges, Naifa hasn’t given up. She and her peers use social media to share updates, study tips, and words of encouragement. “We find strength in each other,” Naifa explains. “Even if our schools are gone, our spirit remains.”
This crisis highlights the resilience of Gaza’s young generation. As the region navigates reconstruction, the world’s attention and support could help rebuild more than buildings—it could help restore dreams. 🌍✨
