Tragedy struck around 4:40 p.m. on Sunday along the scenic Liuchong River in Qianxi City, a popular tourist spot in Guizhou Province in the Chinese mainland. Two passenger boats capsized, resulting in at least nine fatalities and leaving one person missing.
Rescue teams are on the scene, and efforts continue to locate the missing passenger. Thus far, 83 people have been successfully rescued and 70 others have been hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
