A recent report by the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) reveals that as of June 2025, China has surpassed 1.12 billion internet users. With an impressive internet penetration rate of 79.7%, this milestone marks significant progress during the 14th Five-Year Plan, driving digital transformation across the nation.

This digital boom has reached all corners of society. Key groups are playing a big role – the report shows that there are 161 million internet users aged 60 and above and 322 million in rural areas, with penetration rates of 52% and 69.2% respectively. It’s a powerful example of how technology is making the online world more inclusive, connecting generations and communities. 📱✨

Beyond the impressive numbers, China is making its mark on the global cultural scene. Chinese online literature and games have captivated domestic audiences and expanded overseas. In 2024, the overseas market for online literature exceeded 5 billion yuan, reaching more than 350 million readers across over 200 countries and regions. Japan, for instance, experienced an astounding 180% growth, lighting up the digital space much like a trending hit series! 🌏🎉

The report also highlights China’s remarkable strides in generative artificial intelligence. By March 2025, 346 AI services were registered at the Cyberspace Administration of China. These AI innovations—featuring multi-modal capabilities and integration into education, office collaboration, industrial design, and content creation—are reshaping how technology interacts with daily life. 🤖🚀
