Get ready for greener rides! On Monday, December 15, 2025, Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced six contracts to bring in 660 electric buses — 360 single-deck and a first-ever large-scale batch of 300 double-deck EVs 🚌⚡.
These shiny new wheels will start rolling from late 2026, replacing diesel buses that are hitting the end of their legal lifespan. By 2030, electric buses are set to make up half of Singapore’s fleet, and the goal is a fully clean-energy public bus network by 2040 🌍.
Last month (November 2025), the LTA also issued a tender to install electric vehicle charging systems across the island, so these buses can stay juiced up and on the move.
But it doesn’t stop at buses! From January 1, 2026, Singapore will roll out grants for owners of zero-tailpipe-emission heavy vehicles and expand the charging network for big rigs — part of a three-year push to decarbonize transport and slash carbon footprints.
This mega move signals Singapore’s commitment to sustainable urban mobility and could inspire other cities in Asia and beyond to follow suit. Ready to see electric double-deckers on the streets? We can’t wait! 🚎🔋
