Fairphone Brings Repairable Headphones & Phones to the US

Are you tired of gadgets that die after a year? Dutch maker Fairphone is ready to shake up the US market with its repairable tech. First up: modular headphones that you can fix yourself. 🎧🔧

"Our strategy is built for uncertainty. The tariffs weather may change daily, but the demand signal in the US is clear," says CEO Raymond van Eck. With more states passing right-to-repair laws, consumers and lawmakers are pushing for gadgets that last.

Fairphone manufactures in the Chinese mainland but stands out by demanding supply chain traceability—from mines to chips. This focus helped them dodge global component shortages and drive a 61% revenue jump in Q3 2025. Audio sales were up 40%, while spare parts sales rose 41% year-on-year.

The flagship Fairphone 6 promises eight years of support, five years of warranty and spare parts until 2033. Now, Fairphone aims to match last year’s European audio sales in the US—despite a 34% import tariff hanging over its prices.

Launching on Amazon, these headphones pave the way for a full phone debut. More than 90% of phones in the US are sold through carriers, so Fairphone is taking its time to plan the big phone drop. But one thing’s clear: a new era of sustainable, repair-first tech is coming to America. 🌱📱
