Shanghai Gears Up for All-New Energy Buses and Taxis by 2027

Shanghai is hitting the gas on a greener future! 🌱 By the end of 2027, the city plans to completely switch its buses and taxis to new energy vehicles (NEVs). That's right, say goodbye to old-school gas guzzlers and hello to eco-friendly rides! 🚍🚕

Starting in 2024, Shanghai will begin an ambitious plan to replace over 9% of its public buses and taxis with NEVs every year. That means introducing around 6,200 new energy buses and 11,000 NEV taxis over the next four years. Talk about a major upgrade! 🔋

The city isn't just going green—it's going all-in! Shanghai has pledged to phase out aging buses and roll out different types of new energy buses, including pure electric and even fuel cell buses. All new and updated vehicles will be NEVs, with about 1,550 new energy buses hitting the streets annually. 🌐

And it's not just buses getting a makeover. From now on, any new or updated taxis will be NEVs by default, averaging around 2,800 new green taxis each year. Imagine cruising around the city knowing you're reducing your carbon footprint! 🌎

To keep things running smoothly, Shanghai will also beef up maintenance of bus batteries, ensuring they meet performance standards and replacing them as needed. They're planning to update about 500 sets of bus batteries annually. Keeping it fresh and efficient! ⚡

Shanghai's push towards NEVs is a huge step in promoting sustainable transportation and could pave the way for other cities around the world. Who's ready for a cleaner, greener ride? 🙌
