China’s Big AI Push: New Policies to Supercharge Tech Future 🌐🤖

China is turning up the heat on artificial intelligence (AI) development, rolling out a bunch of new policies this year to boost and regulate the fast-growing sector. 🚀🤖

Back in January, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, along with six other ministries and agencies, released a guideline urging efforts to develop \"future industries\". Think metaverse, humanoid robots, brain-computer interfaces, and quantum information – all the cool stuff! 🧠✨ The idea is to use AI and advanced computing to spot and nurture industries with huge potential, pushing for new industrialization.

Then in March, the Ministry of Education kicked off a nationwide AI Empowerment campaign. The goal? To level up AI knowledge and skills among teachers and students, promote AI-powered educational systems, create special AI models for teaching and learning, and encourage the legal and ethical use of AI. Talk about future-proofing education! 🎓🤖

Fast forward to July 2nd, when more guidelines were unveiled, this time focusing on developing an AI standard system in seven key areas, including standards for key technologies, intelligent products and services, and industry applications. By 2026, China plans to roll out over 50 national and industrial standards for AI, guiding the sector's high-quality development.

\"We have numerous scenarios in various industries that need these technologies to empower,\" said Wei Kai, head of the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute under the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology. \"We need to address all kinds of issues in the industrial implementation of large models, such as data governance, platform construction, and computing power layout to lay a solid foundation for the sustainable development of AI.\"

In recent years, China's AI industry has been on fire, making strides in tech innovation, product creation, and industry applications. The rise of new technologies like large models has given the sector a fresh boost. 🔥💡

With over 4,500 AI companies now, China's core AI industry hit more than 578 billion yuan (about 81 billion U.S. dollars) in 2023, up 13.9% year-on-year, according to official data. 📈💰

This year, China unveiled the AI Plus initiative in its government work report—a strategic move to expand the digital economy and lead the transformation and modernization of manufacturing sectors. 🌐🏭

It looks like China is doubling down on AI, and we're here for it! Stay tuned to see how these developments shape the future of tech both in China and around the world. 🌏✨
