Major Airlines Suspend Flights to Israel Amid Rising Tensions

✈️ Heads up, travelers! Several major airlines have hit the pause button on flights to Israel amid rising tensions in the region. If you've got plans to visit Tel Aviv or nearby destinations, here's what you need to know.

Airlines Taking a Break

Big names like United Airlines, Delta Air, British Airways, and Lufthansa have temporarily suspended their flights to Israel. Delta said its flights are on hold through August 2 \"due to ongoing conflict in the region.\" United Airlines hasn't specified when they'll resume flights but are closely watching the situation.

Flights from Munich to Tel Aviv by Lufthansa and Vienna-Tel Aviv flights by Austrian Airlines were diverted to Cyprus and Bulgaria. Lufthansa, along with Swiss International Air Lines, has canceled all passenger and cargo flights to and from Tel Aviv until August 8.

\"Safety first!\" said a Lufthansa spokesperson, explaining the move is a precaution due to the current developments. They've also extended the suspension of flights to Beirut until August 12.

What's the Situation?

Despite the cancellations, Israel's Civil Aviation Authority head, Shmuel Zakai, assures that flights are safe. He pointed out that nearly 70,000 passengers traveled in and out of Israel on about 60 airlines just on Thursday.

Zakai emphasized that the airspace is secure and operations are running smoothly. So, while some airlines are taking extra precautions, others continue to fly to and from Israel.
