One-Month to Go: Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Games Countdown Begins!

🕒 The countdown to the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics officially hit one month on Tuesday, with a giant timer lighting up Milan’s main square. It’s a flashy reminder that in just 30 days, athletes from around the world will compete in snow and ice sports under the Italian sky.

❄️ In Milan, most venues are locked and loaded. The Santa Giulia Ice Hockey Arena—home to the first competitions on February 5—will hold test events on January 9. A pop-up hockey stadium in the city center is already buzzing with fans, while figure skating champions will shine at a venue in Milan’s south. The media center is set inside MiCo Convention Center, ready to host thousands of journalists.

🏔️ Over in the mountains, Cortina’s sliding center is getting its final polish after doubts about its readiness. Two new tunnels meant to ease mountain traffic are still under construction, though these and some private builds could slow things down for spectators heading to events.

🚦 Organizers acknowledge minor delays but stay optimistic. "We’re confident everything will go as planned," said Andrea Francisi, Chief Games Operations Officer. With the opening ceremony at San Siro Stadium on February 6 just around the corner, it’s full speed ahead.

🏨 Planning your trip? Milan’s city center offers 33,000 hotel rooms, and most visitors will base themselves here before heading to the slopes. Whether you’re chasing that Olympic fever in the stands or dreaming of sipping hot cocoa after a day on the ice, the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics are almost here! 🎿🥌
